Yannis Salibur, last reinforcement !

Loaned by Guingamp, the striker signed a one-year contract with AS Saint-Etienne.

This Friday evening, AS Saint-Etienne finalized their recruitment process by taking on Yannis Salibur. The striker who trained in Lille and who played for Guingamp since 2015 committed to the club until 2019. He was loaned without a purchase option by EAG. Yannis Salibur, 27 years old, is ASSE’s fourth recruit following the arrival of Wahbi Khazri, Rémy Cabella and Timothée Kolodziejczak, to which were added, this summer, the contract extensions of Mathieu Debuchy, Yann M'Vila and Kévin Monnet-Paquet.

Born in Île-de-France region, he began with Red Star then joined INF Clairefontaine before joining the LOSC Training Academy at the age of 15. In the North, he rubbed shoulders with Eden Hazard, his elder by only a few days, and the two players were presented by the director of the Training Academy at that time, Jean-Michel Vandamme, as “the most talent youths that LOSC has ever trained”. He notably played the finale of the UEFA European Under-17 Championship in 2008. Given that he played in the Coupe de France in 2009 with Lille the day before his 18th birthday, it was with Boulogne-sur-Mer that he first played at the professional level, in Ligue 2. With US Boulogne (2011-2012) then with Clermont foot (2012-2014), he played 105 matches, scored 12 goals and made 7 assists. His performances opened the doors into Ligue 1 Conforama and the doors to Guingamp who recruited him in January 2015.

Yannis Salibur (1,77 m, 76 kg) became the ringer of the Breton offensive line. With Guingamp, he played 93 matches, scored 18 goals, made 11 assists and imposed himself as a leader with his excellent technical qualities.

He will wear the number 19.

> Yannis Salibur: “I’m very happy to sign with Saint-Etienne. ASSE is a great club of the French championship. I’ve always liked the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium. The fans are very welcoming and make a lot of noise. I’m eager to rediscover this atmosphere wearing the green jersey. I did all the prep work with Guingamp, I’m ready to play. I hope that we’ll play a great season.”

> Frédéric Paquet (CEO): "We need a large offensive player in order to complete our recruiting process. Yannis has the perfect profile. His great technical qualities and his experience in Ligue 1 will allow him to adapt quickly. It’s truly satisfying to have been able to seize this opportunity before the end of the Mercato. The shareholders have made significant efforts in order to build a competitive team.”
