Yannis Salibur: "A new start"
Having arrived a few hours before the closing of the transfer window, the Verts’ winger was presented to the media this Wednesday evening. The neo-Stéphanois expressed his determination to join ASSE.
What made you want to sign with ASSE?
Even if my arrival was finalized the last day of the transfer window, my decision was made last season. I wanted to come at any cost and I took care of my responsibilities. I’m happy to be able to count on the support of everybody here in Saint-Etienne. Today, I’m happy to integrate myself into AS Saint-Etienne. It’s a great French club with ambitions that give me the opportunity to make a fresh start and to play with great players. All these aspects seduced me and I think we have the opportunity to accomplish something great.
What personal objectives have you set for yourself?
I’m keeping them to myself but I’ll do my best, we’ll look back on what has transpired at the end of the season. Collectively, I’d like us to finish as high as possible, which is to say that every player will have played a great season individually.
What was your experience of your first match as one of the Verts?
“I would have preferred to have started with a victory but I had arrived the day before. I still have to get to know my teammates, on and off the field, learn how they play but that will happen little by little. Against Amiens, Loïc Perrin already gave me some advice. He’s someone for whom I have an enormous amount of respect, especially in regards of his career history. Overall, the team is supportive and gets along well. That’s important in order to face the difficult moments of the season.
Were you impressed by the atmosphere of the Cauldron?
The atmosphere was fantastic even if one stand was closed and empty. I felt the heat, this craze...When you hear all this noise, you see that the Stéphanois are a passionate people.
