Yannick Chandioux continues his journey with the Vertes
AS Saint-Étienne and Yannick Chandioux, who has led the women’s team since last March, have extended their partnership for the upcoming Second Division season.
Yannick Chandioux has his sights set on the future with Les Vertes! Appointed head coach of AS Saint-Étienne’s women’s professional team last March, the former professional soccer player—who played in Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 for FC Gueugnon and FC Montceau Bourgogne—led the team in five matches during the final stretch of the season. The coach came very close to securing the team’s survival, which ultimately slipped away from the Vertes in the final second of a difficult season.
He arrived in the Forez region with extensive experience in women’s soccer, having started his career in Dijon—then in Division 2—which he led to promotion to the top flight after a remarkable first season, before establishing the Burgundy club as a powerhouse in the league. Yannick Chandioux can also draw on five years of experience at Montpellier, where he consistently guided the team to finishes between 5th and 6th place in the top division.
In the Forez region and in the Second Division—a competitive league he is already familiar with—Yannick Chandioux is “very happy to continue the adventure with AS Saint-Étienne.” “We are embarking on a rebuilding project, which we are approaching with ambition, and personally, with immense motivation to give my very best. This new chapter should enable ASSE to move toward a promising future.”
To achieve this goal, Jean-Marc Barsotti, president of the ASSE Association, is also “delighted to extend our collaboration with Yannick. In just five games, he has breathed new life into the team, instilled confidence in the squad, and enabled ASSE to hang on to its place in the league right up until that cruel final minute. Thanks to his experience and knowledge of women’s soccer, he will be one of the key figures in the calm and ambitious project we want to build for our upcoming Second Division season.”
Yannick Chandioux is now under contract with the club through 2027, with options.
