Whabi Khazri: "We believe in ourselves"
Two days before the match against Paris Saint-Germain, the midfielder estimates that the Verts will have to play perfectly in order to earn a positive outcome against the defending French Champion.
How do you feel 48 hours away from the match against Paris SG?
We’re aware that we’ll face the best team in France and one of the best teams in Europe. We’ll have to be on our guard, we know we’ll play against fantastic players but we believe in ourselves. If we give the best we have to offer and if we remain strong, we’ll play a good match.
What value do you accord to this confrontation against the defending French Champion?
It’s complicated to judge a team on one match and even more complicated when it’s a matter of playing Paris in the Parc des Princes but we hope to give them cause to doubt themselves. Against Paris, you have to work together, be united and play an almost perfect match in order to hope for something because it’s a team that has a ball possession percentage clearly above the average. We’ll have to make sure that we don’t show nervousness when we get possession of the ball.
How did you earn the victory that you achieved in the Parc des Princes last season, with Rennes?
With a lot of solidarity, we deprived them of possession of the ball but we also had much success because, from what I remember, I think that they hit the ball off the goal post.
How do you feel on the field?
I have this ability to adapt to any situation, it’s my responsibility to do better every match. I’m starting to get back into the swing of things, that’ll help me to contribute more to the team. And then there are high-quality players even if they know that they weren’t perfect their last few matches. There’s just a gap between fitness levels but the team is intelligent and knows that it’s capable of more. Against Amiens, there was very little that we could have done to have played better, but we’re still undefeated, we have to emphasize that.
