Timothée Kolodziejczak joins ASSE

AS Saint-Etienne has concluded an agreement with the Tigres of Monterrey for the loan, with purchase option, of the defender.

This Wednesday, Timothée Kolodziejczak officially signed with AS Saint-Etienne until 2019. The 26-year old defender has been loaned, with a purchase option, by the Tigres of Monterrey, the club that he has played for since 2017. His recruitment is taking place at the same time as the addition of Wahbi Khazri to the team and the contract extensions of Mathieu Debuchy, Kévin Monnet-Paquet and Yann M’Vila as well.

A native of Arras, Timothée Kolodziejczak began his career with Racing Club de Lens, where he integrated himself into the club’s Football school in 2000. He then joined Olympique Lyonnais, the club with which he played his first match at the professional level, November 22, 2008, at the Parc des Princes, against Paris Saint-Germain. With OL, he also played in the Champions League for the first time two seasons later.

In 2012, he joined OGC Nice, where he played for two full seasons and took part in a total of 71 matches in Ligue 1 Conforama. Then he joined Sevilla Fútbol Club, one of the greatest teams in La Liga, thus confirming his potential. During two seasons in Andalusia, he played 82 matches and won the UEFA Europa League twice in a row (2015 and 2016). Of note is the fact that he was a starting player during the 2015 finals against Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk (3-2).

At the same time, Timothée Kolodziejczak has had 48 caps with the various selections of the French team, from U16 to U20. Winner of the French national under-19 Football championship in 2010, finalist in the French national under-17 Football championship in 2008, he also played in the semifinals for the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2011.

> Timothée Kolodziejczak: “I am very happy to sign with AS Saint-Etienne and to train with this team. ASSE is a great club. I hope to write another chapter in the history books with this team that has the support of extraordinary fans. I hope to play great matches and to deliver great performances with the Verts.”

> Frédéric Paquet (CEO) : “Strengthening our defensive line was a necessity. Timothée Kolodziejcza is a player that has proven himself in France and abroad. He’s a competitor. He has already played in three of the greatest European championships: Ligue 1, La Liga and the Bundesliga. He has won European titles as well. His experience will be precious because our desire is to create a balanced team with players who act as leaders and young players trained by the club who are discovering the demands of professional Football.”
