Timothée Kolodziejczak : "Be more solid"
Did you recover from your shock against the Belgian goalie, last Thursday?
I’m still hurting, I’m suffering. The pain is still present but I’m going to run today to see if I’m fit to play. We’ll take stock after.
Before facing Angers tomorrow (Sunday 5 pm), Timothée Kolodziejczak appeared before the media during the press conference. The Stéphanois defender, aware of the current situation, expects a reaction from his team starting this weekend.
How do you explain the beginning of ASSE’s season?
We’re letting in too many goals for my taste and an accumulation of errors is making things difficult for us. It’s maybe a concentration problem, but when we review the goals conceded to Gand, we realize that there have been several errors on all lines. At this moment, as soon as we commit a small concentration mistake, we pay for it.
What is the reason for the difference in performance between the beginning and end of matches?
We finish matches better than we begin them, that’s true. In Séville also, it was always difficult at the beginning. Letting in a goal at the first minute in Gand, did not give us confidence that’s sure, but we once again finished the match well. That’s the proof that it’s not a physical problem. It’s in the mind. On the field we must be more combative and leave this bad moment in the past by trying to have a more solid defense. Even if it’s not the beginning of the season that we were hoping for, we shouldn’t dramatize the situation or lose confidence.
How is the team dealing with the beginning of this complicated season?
It’s a bit hard right now but we’re a tight knit group. We’re all aware that the results are not those we were wishing for and that we’re not where we should be. Right now, we must advance and correct our errors. We talk a lot, we question ourselves, but the schedule is advancing and we’re playing a series of matches. We must eliminate our mistakes and not look back. We have to think about our game and be more solid.
What is your opinion of the match tomorrow against Angers, currently in seventh place?
It will be a great match, they’re very good on their home turf and regaining control of the ball from their adversary. They know that we played this week so we’re expecting a tough first fifteen minutes. It’s up to us to be solid for the first 20 minutes and to not let in any goals. Then, we have the qualities necessary to take the ball, create openings to score, and come back with points.
