Rachel Corboz is Green!
This week, Rachel Corboz signed for Arkema Première Ligue side AS Saint-Étienne. The 29-year-old becomes the fourth recruit of the summer mercato.
At the age of 29, Rachel Corboz is about to embark on her eighth consecutive season in the top flight. Born in Alabama, USA, to French parents living in exile on the other side of the Atlantic, young Rachel was quickly drawn to the game, inspired by the career of her father, Michel, who played for Norcap Olympique Grenoble (now GF38), the qualities of her older brother, Maël, now with Arminia Bielefeld (Germany), and her older sister, Daphné, now a midfielder with Paris FC.
Rachel Corboz's career began in the USA. After making her debut with the PDA Slammers, the young teenager, already positioned in the midfield, joined Georgetown University in 2014, following in her sister's footsteps. She spent her four years of college in Washington, where she shone on the pitch, playing 74 matches, scored 32 goals and made 34 assists, but also on the school benches, where she graduated in political and environmental sciences.
She arrived in France at FC Fleury 91 in 2018, and spent her first season with the club before moving on to Stade de Reims, where she quickly established herself as a key player. Chosen captain of Reims in 2021, Rachel Corboz played 118 matches for SDR. Reliable player, able to play a full season without missing a single match, the French-American also knows how to be decisive, as her 17 goals shows.
Rachel Corboz: "I'm very proud to join AS Saint-Étienne, a very ambitious club for the coming seasons. The club's project is competitive and very interesting. I've gained experience that I'm keen to share with my new team-mates."
Sébastien Joseph, ASSE coach: "Rachel is an experienced player with a high stamina, able to repeat efforts. She's a technically sound player, who also hits set-pieces very well. Thanks to her qualities, she matched everything we were looking for to enrich our midfield."
Rachel Corboz's commitment to Vert l'Avenir
As part of its “Vert l'Avenir” CSR initiative, AS Saint-Étienne offers each of its employees, including its female players, the opportunity to commit to one of the four areas of its ASSE Cœur-Vert association: Environment, Citizenship, Sport for all and Health.
This season, Rachel Corboz will be taking part in environmental initiatives.
