Oscar Garcia: «A great opportunity to watch our young players»

Why did you decide to play many young players?
We are ten days away from the start of the Ligue 1 and I wanted to avoid injuries with some players. I also wanted to try some young players and understand who I could rely on in the future. It was a good training session for them and we know them better now. We also had the opportunity to try a new tactic.

What did you learn from this game?
I noticed many positives things which will help us in the future. We had not worked too much with this tactic but I saw that some players understood what we want from them. We had the ball for a while but we still need to improve in order to play better offensively.

Your team showed less in the second half. How do you explain that?
We played better in the first half, we were tired in the second half. We played with a new tactic and many new players in order to try them. Saturday’s game against Southampton is important because they are a great side. I hope we will play a good game. However, we should keep in mind that the most important game is the one against Nice.
