Ole Selnaes: "An exciting game"
The Norwegian midfielder is looking forward to play against Lille and Christophe Galtier.
You seem to feel very happy this season and on this team.
I like it here, we have a good team. I feel comfortable with my position as well as in the system we use. I play with confidence, it’s a good pair for me, with the team. I think we can certainly improve a lot so I think we have to work hard and it’s an exciting time. I’m not so young anymore but I get more and more experience and I try to work hard everyday to improve myself.
How is it to play with Yann Mvila?
Yann is a top player, very smart, so for me it’s easy to play with him because we understand each other very well. With him next to me, I have freedom in the system we play now. In the past, I was used to play in front of the defense and now it’s a little bit more different. I can play a little bit higher and it’s easier of course to get a goal when you’re closer to the net.
Do you think the game against Lille will be a real test this Saturday?
Of course Lille is a good team, they’ve had a very good start to the season but we’ve already played against some good teams. We played as an away team against Montpellier and they’re also high in the rankings and even though Monaco had a bad start they’re a top team so we’ve already played some tough games. It’ll be a very exciting game and I’m looking forward to it because I think they’re both two good teams and hopefully we’ll get a very good game.
It’s also exciting due to your history with Christophe Galtier?
He was there for a long time and he was really important to the club, had a fantastic impact here, bringing the club to the Europa League many years. He was the coach who brought me here, I have a good relationship with him. I’ll always be grateful for this because he was the first one who gave me a chance and I learned a lot from him. I hope we can be friends after the game again but on Saturday we are enemies.
Do you think that the team can keep maintain their position in the rankings?
This is what we want to do, we are in a good position now but it’s still very early and what’s most important is that we maintain this position until the end of the season. I think we have a very strong team now and our objective is of course to play in the Europa League. This is our objective but I know we can get better so we just have to continue and to work hard.
