OL 1-1 ASSE: another great result for the Verts !

Mathieu Debuchy emerged out of nowhere. The right winger, who took the field the moment the additional time was given, recompensed the Verts for their performance during the second half of the game, during which they dominated OL on their home turf.

The Verts delivered the best opening possible for the 116th derby. Assured of their formations, serene when the ball went out of play, the Stéphanois were the livelier team. With a center kick made by Mathieu Debuchy, Robert Beric believed he could open the score but his goal was invalid since he was offside (15). Unfortunately, Mariano’s goal, which represented his power and precision, made the Verts pay for their first error (19). After, OL got their momentum back, and Stéphane Ruffier had to block shots from both Ndombélé (25) and Depay (39). Curiously, at the moment where one would think that the Verts would have trouble coming back from this first goal made by their opponent, OL grew weak.

The Lyonnais willingly gave the ball to the reinvigorated Stéphanois. Robert Beric came very close to evening the score but was prevented from doing so by Marcelo (75). Just after, Romain Hamouma’s kick was blocked by Tete and went out of bounds. Finally, taking a final pass from Rémy Cabella, Mathieu Debuchy sprung forth at the best place but above all at the best moment to score the goal that evened the score (90). As a result, the Verts have now played five consecutive games without defeat and have earned prestige at the end of a period that has been quite exhilarating. Congratulations men!

The confidence of the experienced players is rubbing off on everyone.” Jean-Louis Gasset certainly appreciated how the team gave their all and went out to get a goal during the last seconds of the match in the Groupama Stadium. “When you earn a point against Marseille and another one against Lyon, two teams that have their sights set on the Champions League, that shows that we’re on the right path.” The leitmotif of the Stéphanois coach? Fight Dijon, this Saturday, with the help of the Stéphanois fans. Ligue 1 Conforama
