Maxime Bernauer: "We have to be able to put them under pressure"
Les Verts' central defender spoke ahead of the Ligue 1 McDonald's fixture against Monaco this Saturday at 9:05 PM.
Saint-Étienne
When you're involved in football, you know that fans and the stadium atmosphere are significant strengths of this club. It's quite unique; the passion is exceptional. As players, we need to harness this, using the twelfth man to help us overcome a team built for European competition. The emotions from the Lyon match, especially in such a challenging season, were uplifting for everyone, but it's not the end goal. The hardest part is still ahead.
Personal Situation
Am I gaining momentum? Changing clubs, particularly when injured, isn't easy. There have been some unfortunate incidents involving me that were tough to handle. But that's part of being a footballer, and it was up to me to prove why the club signed me. Currently, I feel good on the field, but I'd feel even better if we were winning more matches!
On Monaco
Each team has its own style and characteristics. I've faced this team before with Dinamo, and with the right mindset, we managed to compete with them. As seen last Saturday, Monaco was held by Le Havre. If we perform as required, we should be able to challenge them, especially at home with our fans behind us. We've shown we can do it, but now we need to do it consistently. With two of our last three matches at home, we must leverage this advantage.
