Marc-Antoine Brihat: ‘We're getting closer to our objective of staying in the Premier League'
Against Le Havre, who they welcome to the Salif Keita this Saturday (2.30pm), Les Vertes have the chance to take another step towards their goal. Marc-Antoine Brihat is fully aware of this. He has therefore done his utmost to prepare his squad despite a week disrupted by the international break.
The past international week
It's a break that doesn't benefit anyone. Quite a few players are away on international duty, so we have to train for a week with a limited number of players, which also gives other players a chance to shine. Then we got our players back on Friday, the day before our league match. Given this situation and the importance of our next match, we worked as hard as we could. We made the most of the time with video work for the internationals.
A full squad
We've got our internationals back without any physical problems, and that's essential because that's always a worry for any team. So we can count on Cindy Caputo, Amandine Pierre-Louis and Morgane Belkhiter. We also welcome back Alexandria Lamontagne, who made her return to the team sessions at the start of the week after a three-week absence.
A new date for staying up
The idea is to keep up our good performances. I'm going to put our French Cup matches to one side (ASSE qualified for the French Cup semi-final) but I'll remember that we put in a quality first half against PFC and I also want to build on the draw we drew against Nantes where we led twice. If we can win this game against Le Havre, we'll be one step closer to our goal of staying up.
Le Havre
I really want to take one game at a time. I think we can surprise Le Havre. They're on a good run of 6 games unbeaten and have beaten Montpellier twice this season and held Fleury and Nantes to a draw after twice coming from behind. I respect all our opponents but, with the staff, we think we've identified a few points that might enable us to give them a run for their money.
