Mahmoud Jaber, first summer signing
At 25 years old, midfielder Mahmoud Jaber becomes the first new addition to les Verts ahead of the 2025–2026 season, following the club’s decision to the purchase options for Irvin Cardona and Maxime Bernauer.

Born on October 5, 1999, Mahmoud Jaber began his football career with Hapoel Kfar Saba, where he played alongside Manor Solomon, Tottenham’s attacking midfielder, before being quickly scouted and, at age 12, directed to the youth academy of Maccabi Haifa, a club crowned Israeli champion fifteen times. A key player of his generation, he soon made his name within the club’s various teams, winning titles with the U16, U17, and U19 squads and also competing in the Youth League in 2017.
After completing his development, Mahmoud Jaber was loaned, at 19 years old, to Hapoel Nof HaGalil, a second division club, where he stayed for two consecutive seasons and played 67 matches. In the summer of 2021, although his future seemed headed elsewhere, he saw his chances to establish himself at Maccabi Haifa grow and seized the opportunity.
Since then, the midfielder has appeared in 124 matches for his formative club, winning the championship in 2022 and 2023. Now 25, he has also played in European competitions, including the Conference League, Europa League, and Champions League qualifiers. He has earned 12 caps with Israel, including recent appearances against Belgium and France.
Mahmoud Jaber is ASSE’s first signing of the summer transfer window. Under contract until 2029, the new Vert will wear the number 5. Welcome!
Mahmoud Jaber: "I am very happy and proud to join ASSE. I am about to discover French football and a competitive, high-level league. I would describe myself as a hard-working midfielder who likes to repeat efforts to help his teammates. I can’t wait to play in green!"
Eirik Horneland, ASSE coach: "We are very happy that such an ambitious and talented player as Mahmoud has chosen to continue his development with us here at ASSE. Mahmoud is a dynamic, forward-thinking midfielder who will fit perfectly with our intense style of play. He is a team player with valuable experience."
