Les Verts concede an undeserved loss against Servette
Despite a well-controlled game and a dominated opponent, Les Verts lost to Servette Genève after a questionable penalty gave the Swiss a late boost (2-3).

The context
Training at Aix-les-Bains, Les Verts take on Servette Genève. If this is the third test for the Greens, following victories over Carouge (3-1) and Troyes (1-0), it is the final preparatory match for Servette, who will play their first official match in the 2nd qualifying round of the Champions League next Tuesday. So far, the Swiss have recorded wins over Carouge (1-0), Grenoble (1-0), Xamax (2-3) and a heavy defeat by Lausanne (4-0).
The XI
Chico Lamba, the latest recruit, will play his first minutes in a Green shirt this Tuesday evening against Servette. Around him, Eirik Horneland's line-up continues to blend youth and experience, allowing the squad as a whole to grow in stature.

At the interval, Eirik Horneland made three changes. Chico Lamba was replaced by Beres Owusu, Florian Tardieu by Aïmen Moueffek and Ben Old by Zuriko Davitashvili. The coach waited for the 60th minute to make further changes, replacing Gautier Larsonneur, Dennis Appiah, Max Bernauer, Nadir El Jamali and Irvin Cardona with Brice Maubleu, Axel Dodote, Jules Mouton, Igor Miladinovic and Augustine Boakye.
The match
From the kick-off, the Greens were in control and Mahmoud Jaber had the first chance of the match (7th), but he failed to capitalize. Nadir El Jamali (11th) then got in front of goal after being given the ball by Florian Tardieu, but he was not rewarded. The Swiss reacted and created three chances, two of them through Mraz. Gautier Larsonneur had to be at his best with a fist (14th) and even a header from outside his area (22nd), while in the meantime, a shot from the striker (20th) fortunately went wide (20th). After this, Ben Old led a quick attack and went close to opening the scoring (26th). Servette gave Les Verts further cause for concern when a corner was deflected in at the near post, but Magnin, aiming at the far post, missed the ball by a hair's breadth (30th). Moments later, Mahmoud Jaber saw his shot saved by the base of the upright (38th), before Nadir El Jamali saw his effort saved by Mall's fists (38th). Les Verts continued to push forward and, after a long ball, Irvin Cardona found Nadir El Jamali on the edge of the area, who returned the ball perfectly. The striker opened the scoring with a perfect flat-footed finish (ASSE 1-0 Servette, 41st). Before the break, Varela was sent clear on the edge of the area. Chico Lamba's return reduced the angle of his shot, which Gautier Larsonneur saved by lying perfectly on the trajectory (44th).
The second half was less fast-paced, with Servette's attempts on goal coming from Nadir El Jamali (58th), Zuriko Davitashvili (59th) and Augustine Boakye (65th). Buoyed by a generously awarded penalty converted by Guillemenot (ASSE 1-1 Servette, 67th) and then a confused goal converted by Zuka (ASSE 1-2 Servette, 79th), the Swiss club owed nothing to anyone for their third goal scored by Ouattara (ASSE 1-3 Servette, 82nd). The scoreline did not end there, as Augustine Boakye received of a long ball from Lamine Fomba and reduced the gap (ASSE 2-3 Servette, 88th). A slight consolation after controlling the game.
The next stage
After two wins, Eirik Horneland's men suffered an undeserved setback. They will continue their training camp in Aix-les-Bains until next Friday, before heading to Thonon-les-Bains to face Paris FC at the Joseph Moynat stadium (7pm).
