Les Verts' coaching staff is expanding around Ian Cathro

Appointed head coach of AS Saint-Étienne’s men’s professional team, Ian Cathro is joining the Forez region alongside his former assistant from his time in Portugal: Bryant Lazaro. The 38-year-old American, who has spent time in Spain and Norway during his career, speaks fluent French. 

The same is true of David Le Moël, who has also been named an assistant coach, with a particular focus on video analysis. The 44-year-old Jersey native, who previously worked in Estoril alongside Ian Cathro, spent fifteen years in Valencia, Spain. 

Finally, former French international Eliaquim Mangala—who played for AS Saint-Étienne (2022) and Estoril, under Ian Cathro's lead —is bringing his illustrious playing career to a close to join ASSE’s professional coaching staff. He will bring his experience and in-depth knowledge of top-level soccer to the Saint-Étienne squad.
