Les Vertes suffer a heavy defeat in Fleury
During the 13th matchday of the Arkema First League, which Les Vertes kicked off last Friday evening, ASSE suffered a resounding defeat against Fleury with an emphatic scoreline of 6-0.
From the very beginning of the match, Les Vertes were well-organized and created the first chance, thanks to Amandine Pierre-Louis recovering the ball in midfield. Sent deep, Morgane Belkhiter sought out Alexandria Lamontagne, but her effort was promptly stopped by the alert Île-de-France goalkeeper. Fleury then took control of possession, multiplying attempts, all of which were saved by Maryne Gignoux, whose gloves were constantly tested. Unfortunately, Les Vertes conceded the first goal after a run behind the defense by Batcheba, who evaded the Stéphanoise goalkeeper and tapped the ball into the empty net (Fleury 1-0 ASSE, 17th minute). Less than ten minutes after the opening goal, Robert doubled Fleury's lead after a poorly cleared ball by the Stéphanoise defense, calmly finishing with a side-foot shot (Fleury 2-0 ASSE, 24th minute). Throughout the first half, Les Vertes attempted to unsettle the well-organized team from Île-de-France by relying on quick counterattacks, but they went into the break two goals down.
The second half started disastrously, with two quick goals for the hosts. Barely touching the ball after kickoff, Traoré was sent through on goal, evaded Lisa Martinez's tackle, and crossed to Batcheba, unmarked in the center, who easily slotted the ball into the net (Fleury 3-0 ASSE, 46th minute). Shortly after kickoff, a Stéphanoise turnover in midfield was capitalized on by Fleury. Following a run down the flank and a scramble in front of Les Vertes’ goal, the ball hit the crossbar before finding its way in, completing Batcheba's hat trick (Fleury 4-0 ASSE, 48th minute). The nightmare continued for Les Vertes as Traoré added another goal, dribbling past the Stéphanoise goalkeeper (Fleury 5-0 ASSE, 55th minute). Les Vertes tried to respond with efforts from Cindy Caputo and Alexandria Lamontagne, but without success. The hosts comfortably managed the end of the match and sealed the rout with a final goal from Fontaine, who latched onto another ball played in behind the defense (Fleury 6-0 ASSE, 90+5).
Still eighth in the standings, Les Vertes will host Nantes in early February as the league continues, but first, they will travel to Reims next Saturday for the Coupe de France Round of 16.
