Les Vertes bring home an important point from Le Havre!
This Friday, Saint-Étienne, despite being reduced to 10 players for much of the game, managed to secure a draw away at Le Havre (0-0).
Context
Before this trip to Le Havre, it's not exactly party time in the Saint-Étienne dressing room. After a difficult start to the season, Les Vertes are approaching this away game with the ambition of picking up their first points of the season.
Starting XI
For this Arkema Première Ligue match, Sébastien Joseph is relying on proven players, notably starting Faustine Bataillard in midfield and Sofie Hornemann up front. The Vertes coach is also placing his trust in Nadjma Ali Nadjim, who will start against her former club.

Game scenario
Les Vertes are looking for certainty, and Le Havre knows it. From the outset, the Normandy side pressed forward, but came up against an alert Alice Pinguet who saved a ball misjudged by her defense (2nd minute). The tone was set. ASSE suffered for a while, but eventually raised their heads. Aleksandra Gajic missed the target with a header from a corner (12th), before an interesting combination led to a shot from the outside of Sarah Cambot's foot (21st). However, despite being more incisive, HAC failed to really trouble the Vertes' goalkeeper, while Sofie Hornemann failed to convert a superb pass from Sarah Cambot (27').
After the break, the tide turned against the Vertes. Marion Romanelli was sent off for a second clumsy foul (47'). But ASSE did not give up. Helped by the substitutions of Alexandria Lamontagne (65th minute) and Déborah Bien-Aimé (78th minute), Saint-Étienne held on, relying on Alice Pinguet, who was impeccable in all her interventions. Fortunately, Le Havre's last attempt of the game from a set piece did not allow the home side to get back into it (90th+2). The final score was 0-0. ASSE, playing away from home and with ten men, took home their first point of the season.
Coming next
It's time for a break for Les Vertes. Their next Arkema Première Ligue match is on Saturday, November 1, when they host Montpellier.
90e+6 : ⏹️ Longtemps réduites à 10, mais solidaires, les Vertes ramènent un point du Havre. Un résultat important qui leur permet de stopper l’hémorragie d’un début de saison compliqué.
