Kedie Johnson is Stéphanoise !
Trinidad and Tobago international defender Kédie Johnson (24) becomes the seventh recruit of the St. Etienne mercato, joining the Greens from LOSC.
Native of Port-of-Spain, the capital and main city of Trinidad and Tobago, Kedie Johnson took her first steps on the pitch at an early age, playing for Saint Augustine School, with whom she won the SSFL League, the school championship of her Caribbean state, on three occasions. At the age of 11, she earned her first national cap with the Trinidad and Tobago U15 team, and at just 16, her first call-up to the Trinidad and Tobago A team, with whom she took part in the Central American and Caribbean Games.
At the same time, Kedie Johnson continued to progress at club level. Recruited by Florida International University, she joined the Panthers in 2018 as a Freshman. In her first season in the USA, she played 11 matches. In total, between 2018 and 2022, she defended the colors of the University of Miami on 51 occasions before moving 1,500 kilometers away to Louisiana Monroe University, with whom she discovered the Sun Belt Conference, playing 11 games for two goals and three assists.
In the summer of 2023, Kédie Johnson made the leap to Europe and landed at LOSC, just promoted to the Arkema Première Ligue. Her first season saw her take part in seven matches in the top flight. Despite Les Dogues' relegation, the now fully acclimatized Trinidadian made the most of the 2024-2025 season to play 18 Second League matches in a versatile left-back role, also capable of playing higher up the pitch.
Back in the top flight, this time with ASSE, who are about to embark on a third successive season in the Arkema Première Ligue, Kédie Johnson will wear number 20 under Sébastien Joseph. Welcome Kedie!
Kédie Johnson: "I'm very proud to sign with this iconic club. It's not often that a Trinidadian player gets the chance to play at the highest level in France, a very competitive league. I'm very grateful for that, and I can't wait to get back out on the pitch, representing new colors and meeting our objectives with my new teammates."
Sébastien Joseph, Les Vertes coach: "We're delighted to welcome Kédie. It was important to bring some athletic power to our defensive line. She's versatile on the pitch, which is also an asset for us. She's very good in one-on-one situations, and has a good vision of the game, which is good for our team. We hope to see her adapt quickly to our project."
Kédie Johnson's “Vert l'Avenir” commitment
As part of its “Vert l'Avenir” CSR initiative, AS Saint-Étienne is offering each of its employees, including its players, the opportunity to make a commitment to one of the four areas of its ASSE Cœur-Vert association: Environment, Citizenship, Sport for all and Health.
This season, Kédie Johnson will be taking part in actions focusing on Sport for All.
