Julien Sablé: «We have to stand up to the situation»
Even if the defeat conceded against Monaco is difficult to accept, Julien Sablé keeps being optimistic for the future and expects his team to fight on Wednesday in Guingamp.
What is your opinion about the game ?
It is a difficult situation, especially for my players. There were not used to live it in Saint-Etienne. I am sad but we have a game to play in five days. We need to fight and not to give up. That what I told my players during half-time. When this storm will be over, I am sure that we will be stronger.
The first goal scored after only three minutes did not help…
The atmosphere is not the best. We have many injured players and, after three minutes, all we said and we had planned is over and we have to start from scratch. One can’t forget that we were facing a great side. We need to deal with the situation with pride and courage. Words mean nothing. We need to be dignified during these difficult times.
Are you worried about the situation ?
I already lived this kind of situation with ASSE. I tried to talk to my players and put an end to their frustration. We have to accept this difficult moment and be aware that we represent a great institution. We will now go to Guingamp with a fighting spirit on Wednesday. We can’t give up!
How do your players feel?
We have to show character. Even if it is a difficult time for the players, this experience will help them in the future. And I am sure that we will make it. Every day I see the commitment of my players in training. We need to keep this enthusiasm the pride to represent ASSE because football is a truly passion in Saint-Etienne.
