Josuha Guilavogui: "This stadium saw me grow"
During the pre-game press conference, the former Vert did not hide his emotion sparked by his return to the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium.
How are you digesting your return to the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium?
It is a very, very powerful moment for me, I am happy to be here. Last time that I came to this stadium, it was in 2015 with the French national team. Today, I’m not here to see my buddies, but to earn three points. It’s a real goal for me.
Did you ever imagine playing against ASSE in a European Cup match?
I wished for it. That’s part of the good moments of Football, to be able to play again in a stadium that saw me grow. We travelled by car to the stadium, I saw Tezenas, my former school. I even said the driver what road he had to take to save time. Many memories are returning to me. The stadium has changed. Tomorrow, I will be moved at kickoff and whatever happens, this match will be part of the best moments of my career. I never thought I would return to Saint-Étienne to play one day as an adversary, but that’s the case. I’ll have to enjoy every second of this experience.
