Joshua Duffus is Vert !
20-year-old English striker, Joshua Duffus is officially a player of AS Saint-Étienne. He becomes the ninth new player of the Forez club after the purchase options activated for Irvin Cardona and Maxime Bernauer, as well as the arrivals of Mahmoud Jaber, Lassana Traoré, Chico Lamba, João Ferreira, Ebenezer Annan, and Strahinja Stojkovic.
À 20 At the age of 20, Joshua Duffus is about to discover French football! Born in England to a Jamaican family, the young boy joined the Lambeth Tigers FC academy, a training facility located in south London, at the age of six. Spotted and signed by Crystal Palace two years later, he played for the Eagles for three seasons before returning to Lambeth Tigers FC.
After a season for his first club, Joshua Duffus was 12 years old when he joined Brighton and Hove Albion. Wearing the jersey of the southern England club, the young striker took the steps up, earning call-ups to the England U17 and U19 national teams along the way. Performing well, he finally signed his first professional contract in 2022 at the age of 17.
Player of Brighton's U21 squad in recent years, Joshua Duffus has made 42 appearances for the reserve team, regularly joining the professional squad. Barely out of his teens, the new Vert even made his first appearance in the Europa League in a match against AEK Athens in November 2023.
Joshua Duffus will now continue his young career in France ! As the new number 17 in Eirik Horneland's squad, the striker signed a contract until 2029.
Joshua Duffus : “I'm joining a huge club, one that is inevitably associated with an incredible stadium, where I can't wait to make my debut. I want to help bring this club back to the top, where it belongs. To do that, I want to bring intensity to the team on the pitch and, above all, I hope to be decisive and score goals.”
Eirik Horneland, entraîneur de l'ASSE : "We are delighted that Joshua joins us. He brings both presence and attacking power, while always working hard for the team. He complements our forwards with new skills. He is young, ambitious, and brings positive energy to our daily training sessions."

This season, Joshua Duffus will be involved in initiatives related to Health.
