You wanted this last match of the season to be a celebration. Are you content?

Yes, I’ve seen everything I wanted to see in the Cauldron: the encouragement, the “ola”. We dreamed of this celebration and we had it thanks to an incredible match. When you see a match like that, in front of such an audience, you have goosebumps.

What will you remember about this game?

The public! The Cauldron was boiling. It’s because of that that Football is beautiful! This week, I met the two groups of supporters to tell them that we needed them in order to come out on top.

ASSE was very close to a Europa League qualification...

I’m not disappointed because we did what we were supposed to do. In the end, they finished ahead of us in the rankings due to the goal difference. We had a great, undefeated streak but we started with a negative difference of 16 goals. We were dreaming of the Europa League but we weren’t able to make up the difference.

How do you explain this superb and overwhelming victory?

The key word, in regards of our performance, is confidence. When you have such fans as ours behind you, you’re full of confidence. It was evident that we tried and followed through on technical plays. The players were feeling great. It’s very nice that the fans recognize the work that we’ve done. Ghislain (Printant) and myself, we came to put things back on an even keel. And we’re finishing the season in 7th place. Whenever you complete a mission successfully, it has a powerful effect on the players. What’s more exciting than bringing professional players back to their known level of performance whether it be by what you say or by spending time with them.
