Jean-Louis Gasset: «We'll make it if we play well»

How do you feel about this victory?
It’s a huge relief, particularly when I see the results. All the teams that are ranked lower than us have established themselves. It was great to win this evening but I’m not reassured. We only have 26 points and a negative goal difference but there are still a lot of matches that must be played. The table is tight and it will be like that until the end of the season. We have to maintain a strong will and continue to play. We’ll make it if we continue to play well.
 
What do the recruits bring you?
The players that have signed with us bring their professionalism, their technical skills and their confidence. Every week, our team welcomed a new player. We haven’t really had time to train with them a lot. Neven Subotic had only completed one training session with us before this match. From here on out, we’ll have time to work with them and in order to bring them to their peak level of physical performance.
 
In regards of Neven Subotic, what did you think of his first performance?
He reassured me and helped Loïc Perrin get ready for this match, who I found to be very well prepared and excellent this evening. They’re a good pair of central defenders.

To conclude, what pleased you about this victory?
The fact that my players were not panicked when we fell behind. One month ago, I think that we would have lost this match. We had to be patient because Caen was playing with 5 defenders on the field. We had to dominate the game and tire out our adversary. I also liked the harmony between the players and the fans. Although we haven’t yet won a match playing as an away team, we’ve earned points on our home turf. I’m happy that the public has pushed us forward despite our meagre performance during previous matches. I imagine that we’ll really be celebrating in the Cauldron when we have a few more points and are a delivering better performances.
