Jean-Louis Gasset : "All's well that ends well"
For his last time on the bench, the Stéphanois coach experienced a very emotional evening, marked by the homage of his team at the beginning of the match and a positive outcome to finish a successful mission.
What is your judgement of your players’ performance?
Since Saturday evening, we’ve had the time to celebrate qualifying for the Europa League and I’ve had the time to prepare for this last match. We had to play it and we did so with an excellent mindset, like during the entire season. We played a good game of Football, we created openings to score and they did as well. We finished on a high note. All’s well that ends well.
What was your last time on the sidelines like?
There are many mingling emotions. This match wasn’t decisive for the rankings. Our goal was to have fun. I didn’t know if we could physically hold out for an hour and a half. A tie as an away team is still a good outcome. We needed to manage ourselves well, give game time to the youths of the club who won the Gambardella Cup. And try to combine all that so that the celebration was complete.
How did you experience the homage of your players at the beginning of the match?
I wasn’t aware of that ahead of time. They made me leave the locker room three minutes before. I felt that something was happening. It’s nice and kind, that means that everyone is appreciative and I, I appreciate the team. The season wasn’t so easy because we had a lot of physical hiccups. Despite everything, something had been created. We’re happy to have experienced all this together. Who’s responsible for this homage? I would say Wahbi (Khazri). It’s "Kolo"? He was one of three that I would have named spontaneously.
