Ivan Gazidis' reaction
Following the defeat on Saturday night against Toulouse, which confirmed the relegation of Les Verts, ASSE President Ivan Gazidis spoke to the broadcaster of the match, DAZN.

"There is a lot of disappointment for all of us. There is also anger because we thought we could do better, but we must take responsibility, myself first. This is a disappointing end to the season. It is not just today’s match, but rather the entire season. Our supporters have been fantastic; they have pushed us and supported us throughout the season. What we are trying to do is not easy. We are trying to turn the club around both sporting-wise and financially. We don’t want to be a club that constantly fights between Ligue 1 and Ligue 2. We are building something bigger. Our goals remain the same. Our commitment to the club is strong and very firm. We are committed financially, but not just that. There have already been many changes, but we now have a better understanding compared to a year ago. We know it is necessary to make more changes and more investments. And we will do it. This club must be at the top of Ligue 1. That is our goal, and we will achieve it. This season has taught us a lot. Unfortunately, we have this setback that makes us all suffer.
I want to ask the supporters to continue believing in us. I know it is tough, especially tonight, but we understand how they feel. Transforming a club into something they can be proud of requires many changes in many areas. There are big challenges, but we are strong.
French football is going through a difficult period. Supporters can be sure that we will be strong, no matter what happens next season. We will go through the DNCG this summer. We are strong. We will return to Ligue 1, and we will be competitive. We will play a style of football that represents the values of our fans, and they will be proud of it. That’s our goal, and we will achieve it.
With Eirik Horneland ? Yes, we believe in him. His style of play is modern. It is not easy to come in mid-season and change the team’s style during the season. These are things we will review this summer. We are already working on it, and we are ready for the challenges ahead."
