Guingamp traps les Verts
Context
Victorious against Reims last Saturday (2-1) and Amiens on Tuesday (0-1), Saint-Étienne got their week of three matches off to a perfect start with three wins. Their last opponent of the week, Guingamp, showed its desire to play forward and score, even at the risk of conceding goals. Against a prolific Saint-Étienne side, the match promises to be exciting.
Le XI
You don't change a winning team – or almost not! Buoyed by his victory in Amiens four days ago and the impact made by Aïmen Moueffek, Eirik Horneland sticks with his starting eleven but makes room in midfield for the AS Saint-Étienne-trained player, who will be able to show off all his power and love for the jersey.

Le match
After two overly passive starts to their last games, Les Verts take control of the ball from the opening minutes against Guingamp, but both teams are well organized and it takes until the tenth minute to see the first attempt on goal, with Hatchi's shot going wide (10'). Despite their control and territorial dominance, it is Saint-Étienne who concedes the first goal, scored by Hémia. After an initial save by Gautier Larsonneur, the Breton number 10 gets a second chance, deflected by Chico Lamba and lobbed over the Saint-Étienne goalkeeper (0-1, 29'). The next ten minutes offer no chances for either side. Ebenezer Annan sends a shiver down the spine of the stadium with an acrobatic clearance that comes close to his own goal (40'). At the other end of the pitch, after a quickly taken corner, Augustine Boakye equalizes with a powerful shot deflected by Louiserre just before the break (1-1, 44'). It is a well-deserved equalizer given their dominance.
Les Verts start the second half as they had the first, dominating possession and keeping Guingamp pinned back in their own half, but it is Guingamp who takes the lead once again thanks to a shot from Nlandu (1-2, 67') and keeps being dangerous with a shot from Ourega that hits the side netting (70'). Florian Tardieu (73') and Lucas Stassin (74') shows their will to put Saint-Étienne back on track with two dangerous but unsuccessfull shots, as Joshua Duffus' header (78') and Augustine Boakye's shot (79'). Guingamp does not back down, however, and after a shot from Abdallah (80th), Ahile gives the Bretons some breathing space (1-3, 81st) and makes Maxime Bernauer loosing control. The defender is shown a red card (82nd). In stoppage time, Mickaël Nadé gives Le Chaudron hope by heading home a free kick (2-3, 90th + 2). Le Peuple Vert pushes hard in the final minutes but Saint-Étienne is unable to find an equalizer. Les Verts suffer their first defeat of the season after eight matches.
La suite
Before the next international break, Eirik Horneland and his men will travel to Hérault and Montpellier to face MHSC, led by former Vert player Zoumana Camara. A few hours earlier, les Vertes will take on OM at Geoffroy-Guichard (Saturday, 5 p.m.).
