Ghislain Printant : "The necessary ambition and energy"
The new Stéphanois coach saved his first reaction for ASSE.fr. His goal? Maintain the philosophy that allowed the Verts to make it to the European Cup.
How did you first feel after the formalization of your appointment to the head of the professional team?
It was a great feeling of pride. I have the necessary ambition and energy to continue all the work put in place these last eighteen months. Saint-Étienne numbers among the great French clubs. We see it by looking at the winners: ASSE has a great background. I think that in the last year and a half, we managed to put the club back at the top level.
How do you see your journey alongside Jean-Louis Gasset?
We showed a lot of heart, desire to win and we worked hard on and off the field. Jean-Louis, by his experience and aura, was able to train and energize the team. That’s what allowed us to be true competitors. I see that we’re continuing like this because ASSE owes it to itself to be efficient in the competitions in which it is involved.
You were in Glasgow May 12th, 1976 to attend the final of the European Champion Clubs’ Cup. What connects you to ASSE?
I have always been a fervent supporter of ASSE, which adds pride to this appointment. Right now, I’m taking the measure of the task that has fallen to me. I hope to be able to meet the expectations of my managers and of the fans. I’m going to dedicate all my energy so that we can have amazing experiences with our incredible fans like a few weeks ago after our victory against Nice.
What message do you want to send to the Green Nation?
I hope that we can have many good experiences, victories and give joy to our fans. Many of them live for ASSE. It’s our mission and that’s the message that we’ve been conveying for eighteen months. I will not change it. We’re going to maintain the same philosophy because I want our work to continue and I want us to still be able to share beautiful things with the people that support us.
