Gender equality: Her Game Too meets the Greens
Last week, ambassadors from Saint-Étienne representing the Her Game Too association spoke to the ASSE professional team to raise awareness about gender equality, the fight against sexist and sexual violence, and the place of women in football. The event was marked by the launch of the educational game “Zone Mixte” (Mixed Zone).
Last week, the four Saint-Étienne ambassadors from the Her Game Too association spoke to the ASSE professional team to discuss and raise awareness about gender-based and sexual violence, gender equality, and the place of women in soccer.
Created to bring together women who are passionate about soccer and to combat all forms of sexism in stadiums, Her Game Too works daily to make soccer more inclusive, respectful, and open to all. The ambassadors began their presentation by introducing the association at the national level, before addressing the issues related to SVS and gender stereotypes that are still too prevalent in the sports world.
The presentation was marked by the launch of the brand new educational game “Zone Mixte” (Mixed Zone), designed by the ambassadors themselves. Divided into several small groups, the players took part in this interactive board game based on questions on various topics: everyday life, sexist stereotypes, the world of sport, regulations, and the role of witnesses in situations of discrimination.
The workshop facilitated rich, sincere, and constructive discussions. The debates raised many questions and awareness, but also reflections, demonstrating the players' interest in these essential social issues.
A special moment with the players, key figures in the club
“We are very grateful to have had this opportunity to talk with the professional team, to discuss topics such as sexual violence, gender equality, and the place of women in soccer with them,” says Louise Poyard, Her Game Too ambassador for ASSE. "We took the time to debate, listen to their questions, and try to answer them. It was a real opportunity and a special moment with the players, who are key figures in the club!"
Through this initiative, AS Saint-Étienne has become the first professional football club to test the “Zone Mixte” game, reaffirming its commitment to inclusion, respect, and the fight against all forms of discrimination, both on and off the field.
