Frédéric Paquet: "We want to build a competitive team"
ASSE's CEO, Frédéric Paquet, is delighted that Mathieu Debuchy will continue to wear the green jersey in the next trhree seasons.
Mathieu Debuchy’s signing
"Keeping Mathieu Debuchy was a priority since we started working on the future team with Jean-Louis Gasset. He is a symbol like Loïc Perrin and represents a great added value for the club. His performances and the way he behaves as a man make him very important for us in the team we want to build. We are delighted to be able to rely on him in the next three seasons.”
The recruitment
"We want to make a competitive team, like the one we had in the last season. We already have a set group with players like Mathieu, Loïc Perrin, Stéphane Ruffier, Neven Subotic, Gabriel Silva, Yann M'Vila and Romain Hamouma. This is a strong basis and structure that we need to strengthen. We also want to launch many young players in the first team and the coach does think the same. He is a key point in our homegrown players strategy.”
ASSE’s objective
"The championship is so tight so it is very difficult to say what rank we want to reach. Our objective is to have a team ready to fight for the European spots. Even if we won’t be able to invest as much as Top 4 teams, the owners decided to make an effort to make a great team."
