First professional contract for Kévin Pedro
This Monday, defender Kévin Pedro (19), member of the Academy, signed his first professional contract with AS Saint-Étienne, alongside Loïc Perrin, Sporting Director, and Laurent Huard, Head of the Academy.

Standing at 1.82 meters, Kévin Pedro is a quiet young man—except when it comes to showing personality on the pitch. The native of Carcassonne, in the Aude region, quickly made a name for himself since joining the club in 2021. Having previously played for FC Épinay, ES Viry-Châtillon, and Tremplin Foot, the young defender—who was still searching for his best position—stood out at US Rig-Orangis, where he spent four seasons. At the same time, he was part of the 2006 generation selected for the Pôle Espoirs academy in Reims.
Arriving in Forez alongside a talented generation led by Mathis Amougou, Kévin Pedro was promoted to the U17 French national team in his first season. He confirmed his progress in the following season, still with the U17N. In 2023-2024, his development continued with the U19 National team as well as in National 3, where on December 9, 2023, he made his senior debut in a reserve team victory at Vaulx-en-Velin. He played a total of five matches with the reserves that season.
Last summer, Kévin Pedro was on the pitch with the professionals, playing in all the preseason matches. For his Ligue 1 McDonald’s debut, he came on with enthusiasm at Monaco before earning his first start at the Chaudron in the French Cup against Marseille. He also has five caps for France, most recently with the U19 team. Thanks to his ability to play both as a right back and in a more central role, Kévin Pedro is now tied to Les Verts until 2028.
Kévin Pedro: “I am proud and happy. This first professional contract was a dream when I first arrived here as a youngster. It’s the first step I am validating with a great club with a rich history. I am eager to play for the upcoming season. I have spent the last few months training with the professionals, and I’m looking forward to preseason with them.”
Loïc Perrin, ASSE Sporting Director: “We’re pleased that Kévin signs this first professional contract, which follows a trainee contract. This contract represents the trust we have in him; it’s a reward for his hard work, seriousness, and of course, his potential. He will also be part of the professional group and will have opportunities to prove himself.”
