Party night in the Cauldron! The last match of the season was a magnificent spectacle, a great victory for Jean-Louis Gasset’s team. Jonathan Bamba, with a volley from the right, opened the score (7th) before the star of the show Romain Hamouma made his presence known. The number 21 first regaled the Kop Nord with a chain of goals (7th & 39th) during the first half. But that was not nearly satisfying enough so during the second half he outmanoeuvred Maignan to completed his first hat trick wearing the green jersey (62nd).
A clear sign that the evening was favourable to the Verts, Kévin Malcuit even scored a goal against his own team, after Maignan blocked a shot made by Oussama Tannane (65th). 5-0, a magical score in an exceptional atmosphere for the end of the match. One last “chalalalala, oh Saint-Etienne!” shared with the Kop Nord, a great thanks to the “Peuple Vert” and to the teammates of Loïc Perrin who were able to return to the locker room with a smile on their faces. Finishing in 7th place, they overcame Nice in the very end but couldn’t prevent Bordeaux from finishing in 6th place. With 35 points earned after their return, they fought until the very end. Merci les Verts !
THE GOALS
7th (1-0): Opening of the score for the Verts! Maignon blocks a shot made by Romain Hamouma before Jonathan Bamba regains possession of the ball and shoots it between the legs of Lille’s goalie.
13th (2-0): What a goal by Romain Hamouma! The number 21 turns a volley into a chest-lob that makes the Kop Nord shake!
39th (3-0): Second goal of the game for Romain Hamouma! Amazing accomplishment for the Stéphanois striker. Superb!
62nd (4-0): Hat trick for Romain Hamouma! Assisted by Jonathan Bamba, the number 21 gets close and scores with his left foot.
65th (5-0): The return to Sainte-Etienne is painful for Kévin Malcuit who shoots the ball into his team’s own net after Maignan stops a shot made by Oussama Tannane.
THE COACH'S ANALYSIS
