Amiens 0-2 ASSE: les Verts masters of the game !

Thanks to the goals made by Mathieu Debuchy and Rémy Cabella, ASSE won its third away victory since the beginning of the season. This well-deserved success allows the Verts to rise to 11th place in the rankings.


 


The Key to the Match

The Verts have never had ball possession like this: 68% in the first half with 87% of passes completed and 8 shots on net! They totally dominated. ASSE finished the game with stats worth of a team highly placed in the rankings: a ball possession percentage of 62%, 16 shots on net and 8 blocked. The recruits, Neven Subotic, Yann M’Vila and Mathieu Debuchy, have indisputably brought a technical base to the team and have helped the team’s main players to improve their performance as well such as Rémy Cabella, Loïc Perrin, Ole Selnaes and Gabriel Silva. ASSE logically opened the score at the 61st minute thanks to its fourth recruit who signed with the team during the winter transfer window, Mathieu Debuchy. The former Gunner, well-placed at the second post, retook a shot made by Jonathan Bamba that was blocked by Gurtner. Then Rémy Cabella, unquestionably one of the best Stéphanois, bolstered the team’s lead by taking a pass from Vincent Pajot and scoring the team’s second goal of the evening.

The coach’s analysis

It’s definitely an important match for Jean-Louis Gasset, who underlined the confidence with which his team played this Saturday evening. The Verts all worked together to make this victory possible. “We had great possession of the ball”, the coach of the Verts explained. In comparison with AS Saint-Etienne’s past performances, their command of the field and their fluid performance against their adversary during this match stand in comparison. “During our last few games, we benefited from favourable circumstances, Jean-Louis Gasset reminded. This time, I had the impression that we were beginning to master the game.”
