All you need to know about Ghislain Printant

August 1, 1989

After an amateur career as a goalkeeper, Ghislain Printant quickly became a coach. Aimé Jacquet, then coach of Montpellier, called him to strengthen his staff. Trainer of the Hérault goalies from 1989 to 1992 then again in 1994, ASSE’s new coach also led the U16 and Montpellier’s second team.

Ghislain Printant was called to aid SC Bastia and was named coach of the Corsican club. SC Bastia, with only 10 points earned during the first 12 matches, was having much difficulties in the rankings. Under the aegis of Printant, SC Bastia quickly found their way again. And finished the season in twelfth place, just two points from the Top 10.

April 11, 2015

SC Bastia and Ghislain Printant played the final of the League Cup in the Stade de France against Paris Saint-Germain. Despite the defeat (0-4), the Corsicans completed an excellent journey, magnified by the victory in the semi-final on the Louis II’s field against AS Monaco (0-0, 7 shots on net to 6 penalties). Ghislain Printant left a strong memory in the minds of the island fans. So much so that 5 of them submitted voting ballots with his name during the 2015 departmental elections!

January 30, 2017

Jean-Louis Gasset, charged with rectifying Montpellier’s situation, called on him to assist him with his task. Like in Bastia, Ghislain Printant had to bring a club back from the brink. Throughout 16 matches at the head of Montpellier’s club, the two men managed to maintain MHSC’s elite status.

December 23, 2017

A few days after his nomination as head coach, Jean-Louis Gasset once again called on Ghislain Printant to assist him at ASSE. The duo earned 100 points in a season and a half at the head of the professional team. The Verts officially made it back to the European Cup May 18, 2019, after a victory against Nice (3-0). During the Stéphanois’ next match in their Cauldron, Ghislain Printant will be the head coach of ASSE.
